A retaining ring is a fastener that holds components or assemblies onto a shaft or in a housing or bore when they are installed. These retaining rings are installed into machined grooves with internal housings or bores or on external shafts. Shaped like the letter E, this stainless steel E-ring, is a semi-circular stamping with two pronged ends and a center prong halfway between the two ends. Stainless Steel material enhances resistance to rust and corrosion.E-rings are designed for radial installation into machine grooves on shafts of varying diameter and require a deeper groove but provide exceptional thrust loading compared to fasteners of same size and weight. This thin, stainless steel external retaining ring is used in Aestiva 7900, Aestiva MRI and Aestiva 7100 Anesthesia Delivery systems.
